Having grown up in the 1960s and 70s listening to the classical music that his mother loved to play at home, Jonathon was greatly influenced in later years by many of the wonderful operatic tenors that were popular during that time, and Harry Secombe was a regular favourite.

"So many of the songs that I studied as a young tenor were the great ballads and pop hits that Harry Secombe made famous, and I always dreamt that one day I would be able to sing them with the beautiful phrasing, expression and brilliant tone that he always imbued in his recordings." says Jonathon. "With a Song In My Heart was one of my mother's favourite songs...and when I was invited by the ABC to do my first solo album in 2008, it became the title of the album and I was able to dedicate it to her"
