Bunjil Place Foyer

Digital sculpture by Joel Zika

Casuarina
Artist Joel Zika takes inspiration from the unassuming Australian Pine tree to create a work overflowing with baroque indulgence. The work uses cutting edge technology to transpose animated images of this iconic Australia plant across the Bunjil Place foyer.
Casuarina refers to the Latin name for the plant which exhibits different looks throughout the year,  from bright flowers, to scales and even teeth like protuberances.

This work features five transparent spinning screens that explore the unique flora complexities of the Australian native pine flower, the Casuarina.
