Art Bites: Rex Butler – Modernism and Miffy
Hours
Location
Miffy is a modernist little creature with her hard black lines and primary colours. Her creator, Dutch artist Dick Bruna, was highly influenced by both the German art movement the Bauhaus and the Dutch art movement De Stijl. In this lecture, we offer a brief overview of both movements and how they contained within them, perhaps against their creators' original intentions, the potential for a children's book character like Miffy.
