Join us for a celebration of Afghan culture, heritage and community at the opening of Suzani Stories. This exhibition celebration will feature an Afghan hand-made craft market, plus traditional food and drink.

 

Created in collaboration with a group of 14 women from the local Afghan community, not-for-profit social enterprise The Social Studio developed a series of original self-portraits, illustration and poetry inspired by the lives and experiences of the embroiderers.Spend time exploring a range of embroidered pieces, highlighting the centrality of embroidery and needlework to the cultural expression and craft practices of communities across Afghanistan. Suzani Stories honours the artistry of the women for whom embroidery has been a lifelong practice. 

 

All are welcome, no bookings required.
