Ustad Rashid Khan is the great-grandson of gharana founder Inayat Hussain Khan and was referred to as the "assurance for the future of Indian vocal music" by Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. He was honoured with a national award of Padma Shree, as well as the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2006.
