Parama Padam - Life's Game of Snakes and Ladders

Mohanapriyan Thavarajah, the principal dancer of Apsaras Arts Dance Company, will takes you on a journey in this Bharathanatyam dance performance exploring the life’s challenges of every human being.

Parama Padam is inspired by the board game Parama Padam, which was created with the dual purpose of entertainment and teaching moral values of human life. This game which originated in India in the 10th century CE, was popularly known world-wide as “Snakes and Ladders” by the British, during the Victorian era of 18th century CE, including Australia. 

The performance Parama Padam (60mins) will follow after a performance by Melbourne-based dancers (30 mins) from the following organisations:
