About our 2024 Christmas Tree
Proudly featuring the Casey Aboriginal Gathering Place Yarn and Art Artists:
- Douglas Smith
- Robert James Loche
- Alice Begley
- Lucile Boothey
Established over a decade ago, the Yarn and Art program is delivered for and with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, for the purpose of sharing culture through conversation and artmaking.
Earlier this year the City of Casey launched a Reconciliation Action Plan, expressing our commitment to reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Our vision for reconciliation is to proudly recognise the rich cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Together we acknowledge the past and work towards a more equitable future. We are determined to listen and empower our whole community.
In helping bring this vision to life, we invited our Aboriginal Elders from the Yarn and Art program to share their work on the 2024 City of Casey Christmas tree.
We are so proud to be sharing these beautiful works with our community and are grateful to the artists for entrusting us.
